Le Mans.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world’s oldest endurance race in all of sports car racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, Sarthe, France. Commonly known as the Grand Prix of Endurance, it is organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and runs on a circuit containing closed public roads. The race is designed not only to test a car and driver’s ability to be quick, but also to last over a 24-hour period.
On June 12 at three in the afternoon the legendary the 24 Hours of Le Mans will officially begin. A highlight will surely be the participation of the Jeff Koons’ 17th BMW Art Car, which was presented in Paris just a week before. In April 2010, BMW Motorsport Director, Mario Theissen, announced the driver line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Andy Priaulx (GB), Dirk Müller (DE) and Dirk Werner (DE) will race the BMW Art Car #79. Jörg Müller (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR), Uwe Alzen (DE) will drive the BMW Le Mans car #78

Alpina's s range took off where many others would finish, with a modified version of the BMW 323i. The result: Alpina C1 / B6 E21. The engine was the standard overhead camshaft in-line six with the compression ratio lifted from 9.5:1 to 10:1. With special pistons and a re-worked cylinder-head which housed a new camshaft, it produced 125 kW ( 170 hp at 6000 rpm instead of 105 kW (143 hp at 5800). Maximum revs went up to 7000 from 6400. Torque was lifted from the original 190 Nm (140 Ib-ft) to 210 Nm (154.7 Ib-ft) at 4500 rpm. Alpina also offered a series of kits which could further improve the car's performance and/or reliability.

G-POWER congratulates BMW Motorsport on its first place in this year’s (2010) 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. It presents two road-legal BMW M3 Clubsport models in homage to the BMW works team. Spectators at this year’s 24-hour race at the Nürburgring had the chance to admire the first creation of the G-POWER Motorsport Division. The G-POWER M3 GT2 S is aimed specifically at customers looking for a vehicle along the lines of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but have thus far been unable to find one in the BMW product line-up – thoroughbred racing technology combined with exceptional performance and fully road legal. In answer to this demand, G-POWER presents the G-POWER M3 TORNADO CS as the civilian version of the imposing G-POWER M3 GT2 S.

Until recently the story behind the BMW logo was linked with the aircraft engines. It was believed that it is a stylized representation of an airplane propeller spinning against the clear blue sky. But it seems that the origins of the BMW logo have a totally different explanation. Find out the truth behind the BMW logo. It was on 5 October 1917 that the BMW trademark was registered with the Imperial Trade Mark Roll under No. 221388.

BMW announced this year that the 17th Art Car created by Jeff Koons will race where the first rolling pieces of art by legendary artists raced – at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France on June 12-13, 2010. Koons’ canvas is a BMW M3 GT2, which was homologated to compete at this year’s running of the world’s most famous endurance race.
The resulting artwork of bright colors conceived by Koons is evocative of power, motion and bursting energy. Its silver interior along with the powerful exterior design, the Art Car will impart a dynamic appearance even when it’s standing still.

The BMW Concept Gran Coupé concentrates the fundamental values of the brand. Its body design authentically captures a sense of superior dynamic performance and high-quality elegance. The shaping style, which follows a coherent pattern down to the last detail, convincingly visualises BMW's philosophy as an automobile manufacturer. As with the Concept CS 2007, BMW once again sets new benchmarks in the design of 4-door coupes with a distinctive sporty character. In the BMW Concept Gran Coupé, BMW presents the vision of a 4-door vehicle which combines the exclusivity of a Gran Turismo with the fascination of a high-performance sports car.

BMW cars archive: After several racing successes with the BMW 315/1 sports car, BMW felt the time was right to enter the internationally important two-litre class. The engine's swept volume was therefore increased once again to just over 1.9 litres, making 55 hp available from the triple-carburettor version.
The BMW 319 could be clearly recognised by the three chrome strips on the bonnet's side grilles.

BMW tuners : "Gran Turismo" means "Grand Tour", and this is the principle behind the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer. The performance upgrade from 245 to 286 HP for the six-cylinder 530d already gives the standard car more pulling power and racing flair, which is demonstrated externally by the AC Schnitzer engine styling with capacity logo. Yet the 5-series GT by AC Schnitzer doesn't just bring a gleam to the eyes of BMW fans, but acoustically it delivers what the aesthetics promise at first glance. The AC Schnitzer twin sports rear silencer is the ideal tuning product for drivers with an appreciation of engine sound, to whom design elements such as the chromed "Sports Trim" tailpipe trims and the chromed "Racing" tailpipe trim are equally important.

BMW tuners: The latest masterpiece and an impressive example for the exceptional performance of the G-POWER manufactory is the G-POWER 760i STORM which now closes a gap in the BMW programme: M-Feeling for the BMW “Luxusliner“. The core part of the G-POWER performance enhancement for the 6,0l V12 bi-turbo engine is a substantial modification of both “TwinPower” turbo chargers used by BMW. In co-operation with the compressor manufacturer ASA which can rely on 20 years experience in developing and producing radial compressors (basically, radial compressors are turbo charger compressor units which are put into motion by the crankshaft via a belt driven transmission), the performance of both turbo chargers was significantly improved without affecting their endurance.

BMW concept cars: The new BMW Concept 5 Series ActiveHybrid offers a particularly good rendition of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan in all its dynamic, efficient and innovative qualities, at the same time representing the ongoing development of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 and the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 with their drivetrain technology already in production. The drive system featured in the BMW Concept 5 Series ActiveHybrid consists of a straight-six gasoline engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, eight-speed automatic transmission, and electric drive. Integration of BMW ActiveHybrid technology in a sedan already extremely efficient with its "conventional" combustion engine reduces both fuel consumption and emissions once again by more than 10 per cent.
